Chinese study at Jiahua language school emphasizes active, communicative learning to focus class on student language usage.
Each week involves 15 to 30 intensive hours of level-adapted Mandarin training, equivalent up to 4 semesters of Chinese university classes - but with added rigour and full immersion. We shape material to fit your goals, whether that be improving Chinese workplace communication or doing 15 minutes of standup in Mandarin.
Learn Chinese with friends, inside and outside the classroom
Shenzhen is through-and-through Chinese. As soon as you arrive, expect signs to be in Simplified Chinese characters, friendly Mandarin-speaking locals, and unfamiliar sights and smells. At Jiahua, you will not just learn to traverse this environment, but use it to compliment your classes. In Shenzhen, every moment of every day is Chinese language practice.
Besides independent exploration, you'll do action homework ranging from ordering your first Chinese meal to learning to direct your cab home to haggling in China's largest electronic market.
Shenzhen is China old and new
Shenzhen is the closest thing to a snapshot of of modern China, and to visit is to see history in the making. A tier one city erected in 30 years on top a historical industrial township, Shenzhen retains its lost-in-time urban villages - now flanked by futuristic skyscrapers. Shenzhen is home to China tech giants Huawei, Tencent, Lenovo, and more - the Googles and Apples of China. Its business, architecture and technology are booming - but none more than its population, comprised 80% of foreign and Chinese immigrants. All come with their own unique cultures making Shenzhen China's melting pot.
The daily transformation, the historic villages nestled between new skyscrapers, the melding of cultures, and the breakneck pace of growth represents the very core of modern China. Come to see the Asian frontier, and leave your Lonely Planet guide at home - it'll be obsolete by the time you arrive!
Start life in China with a phone call

We are lifelong students, businesspeople, foodies, travelerers, armchair philosophers, and urban explorers. We know and love this city - and we'll make sure you do, too.
