  • 车在外面: 动词. 
  • 车停在外面: 动词.
  • 不要在外面停车: 介词.

在这个句子里，“停”是动词，“在”是放在地方处所前面的，是介词。

oh, I guess I mixed it up. Cannot explain in Chinese.

 

I guess it is like this:

 

  • 车在外面:  zai has to be the verb, because no other word available (car is outside). Here is represents the term of beeing, like "is".
  • 车停在外面: 动词. car parked outside. ting is the verb. zai can't be. zai as preposition links the object to the rest of the sentence and locates it in a "space". 
  • 不要在外面停车: 介词.  ting is verb again. do not park car outside. zai can't be. same argument like before.

以前我的老师告诉我们，这里的“在”是介词。

 

现在那个网站的资料解释说是动词，我也问了其他老师还有查了一些语法书，但是目前还没有一个结论，所以我会努力再查查资料，希望可以快点确认这里的“在”是动词还是介词。^_^

问了几个资深对外汉语老师，同时和几个同事讨论了一番，最后我们的结论是：

 

“车停在外面”的“在”为介词。

 

  在这个句子中，“停在外面”整个作为谓语，“在外面”做谓语动词“停”的补语，“在”+合成方位词（如外面），表示处所义~

Ohhhh, this is too hard for me. Who was right at the end? Do i need to know it or better just continue to focus on vocabulary and basic grammar. hehe.

This sentence is widely used in testing typewriters and computer keyboards.

It is "the well known memorized typing line embracing all the letters of the alphabet"(English-language pangram).

We can see its usage in typograpy, computing and popular culture.

 

It is the first time  I see this sentence. Useful information.
