Week Seven: HTML
The Lesson: Computer Programing
This is the final task of the business Contest. The winner will get 3 months of unlimited free study at Jiahua, and the loser will get nothing. :(
Task 1: The Lesson
Both Linda and Xiao Mei will give individual lessons on HTML. Each lesson will be about 10 minutes in length. The lesson will be given to some other teachers and students at Jiahua. Both Linda and Xiao Mei will be judged on the following:
A) Grammar
B) Vocabulary used
C) Confidence in giving the lesson
D) Knowledge taught
Task 2: The Page
Both Linda and Xiao Mei will show us a web page they have created themselves. They must write the code themselves. each page will be judged on the following:
A) Creativity
B) How skilled is the coding of the page
C) Is the content interesting
Task 3: The Test
Linda and Xiao Mei will then be tested on their knowledge about HTML, and computer programing in general. This test will be in the form of Multiple Choice.
Good Luck to both of you girls. You have worked hard and have come a long way. be proud of what you have accomplished so far.

This was really really close. Here is how it went down:
Task 1: The Lesson

This was really close. Xiao Mei's English was clearer and more smooth. Her presentation skills were great and she gave her presentation with confidence. However, the students and teachers in the class felt that they learned more from Linda than they did from Xiao Mei. Linda's PPT was clearer, and explained in a way the students preferred. We debated this task for more than 20 minutes before we agreed to choose Linda as the winner. The final vote was 75% for Linda and 25% of votes for Joyce.
Task 2: The Page
Winner: Xiao Mei

After I saw both pages, I checked the source code to make sure they both understood what the code actually meant. They both understood the code of their pages very well. Xiao Mei won because a) I felt her page was more atractive, and b) there was more complex code involed. This task was very clear cut, and easy to choose the winner
Task 3: The Test
Winner: Xiao Mei
This test had 15 questions, and both of them scored more than 70%. I was very impressed. Xiao Mei took an early lead, then Linda caught up. Then Xiao Mei took the lead again and Linda once again caught up. After Question 14, we had a tie. This 7 week contest now came down to one final question. Xiao Mei made her choice with confidence right away, but Linda hesitated and took some time to really think about it. In the end, she had to guess. That one tiny tiny small mistake cost her the task. Xiao Mei won the test by one point and became out first ever Jiahua Business Contest Winner. Congratulations Xiao Mei! We will have your trophy made this week, and you now get 3 months of unlimited free study in any class at anytime!!

It was a pity to lose at the last minute, however I survived to the last minute! The whole contest was a great experience for me.

Joyce, Learn a few basics, and learn them clearly. That is the most important. No need to be an expert, you just need to be better than Linda. :) If you have time on Saturday you can come to the school and one of our teachers can help you out. Use the link I provided below as a starting point. It will not be as hard as you think. If you can set aside a few solid hours to study, you should do well.

i haven't noticed this task till now...my god! so many tasks...seems a little bit urgent for myself to learn that, i'm soooooooo busy this week, attend 2-days training, and this afternoon i'm going to attend a seminar in Marco polo hotel...

There are many websites where you can learn. Here is one: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_primary.asp
Remember you do not need to be an expert, just learn some of the basics and know what they mean. Look at this website and try to find some more. If you need help, just ask! Tyrone and I can help you as much as you want until the contest begins.
